Architectural & Interior Photographer based in Milan
I am Matteo Cirenei, an architectural and interior photographer based in Milan, working with architects, designers, brands and international architecture and design publications.
My work focuses on architecture, interiors, design, exhibitions and installations, with particular attention to space, materiality, light and the ideas behind each project.
Working professionally as a photographer since 2000, I specialise in architectural and interior photography for editorial, commercial and institutional clients in Italy and internationally. Since 2009, I have worked continuously with Interni Magazine, photographing installations and projects during Milan Design Week.

Architecture is at the centre of my photographic practice.
As an architect trained at Milan Polytechnic, I approach each building by looking at its relationship between space, structure, materials, light and context. My photographs are intended not simply to document a building, but to communicate the architectural ideas behind it. I work with architects, architecture studios, institutions and publications on the photographic documentation of completed projects, buildings and urban spaces.
I photograph interiors with the same attention to architecture: the relationship between space, light, materials, and furniture, and the intent behind the design.
My interior photography covers residential projects, hospitality, workplaces, cultural spaces and interiors created by architects and designers.
The aim is to create images that communicate both the overall character of a space and the details that define its design.
Design Photography
My work also focuses on the relationship between design objects and the spaces that contain them.
I photograph furniture, products, collections, materials, showrooms and design environments for designers, manufacturers, brands and publications.
Rather than treating design as isolated objects, I often photograph it within its architectural context, showing how furniture, materials, light and space work together.
Photography for Architects & Designers
I work directly with architects, architecture studios, interior designers and designers to create images of their projects for portfolios, websites, publications, books and exhibitions.
Having studied architecture myself, I understand the importance of representing not only the finished space, but also the design decisions, proportions, materials and relationships that give a project its identity.
The photographs become part of the visual language through which a studio presents its work.
Showrooms are spaces where architecture, interior design and products come together.
I photograph showrooms and brand spaces with attention to both the architectural environment and the design collections displayed within it.
My work can be used for editorial features, websites, catalogues, press materials and the visual communication of design brands.
I photograph exhibitions, galleries, museums and cultural spaces, documenting both the works on display and the spatial experience created around them.
Exhibition photography requires attention to architecture, installation, lighting, materials and the relationship between individual works and their environment.
My experience in architecture and design photography informs this approach, allowing me to document exhibitions as designed spaces rather than simply as a collection of objects.
For more than fifteen years, I have photographed temporary installations and design presentations in Milan and beyond.
Since 2009, I have photographed Milan Design Week installations for Interni Magazine, documenting projects created by architects, designers, artists and international brands.
This work includes temporary architecture, large-scale installations, exhibitions, showrooms and events created specifically for the city and for Design Week.
